Luxury Delta Camp is magnificently nestled on a small island south-western of Chief’s Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. This intimate yet unceremonious safari camp lies on the banks of the Boro, one of the principal waterways of the Okavango. It is set in the forest of a large, beautiful surrounding luxury offering camping in tented and lethaka (reed) chalets that overlook the Okavango waterways.
The camp accommodates 16 guests in en suite chalets constructed out of natural materials but still offers all the luxuries of contemporary safari accommodation.
The Delta Camp chalets are artistically designed to take advantage of the surrounding indigenous trees of their island forest. Each chalet fits modestly into its setting, joining together into the surrounding to offer clear views over the Okavango flood plains.
Game of all sorts is easily spotted on game drives including buffalo, elephant, lion, giraffe, leopard, crocodile, hippopotamus plus numerous rare species of antelope such as the lechwe and sitatunga.
Overlooking the confluence of two channels, Delta Camp’s lounge and dining area is raised to offer the fantastic panorama of the riverine forest as well as the Okavango swamps. The Delta Camp also stands out as one of the few safari camps in Botswana to permit accommodation to children.
Excellent meals ensure that guests are well prepared for their walks; tea and coffee are available at all times, and the open bar is on hand to wet your whistle, whether dried by the African sun or a close encounter with an exciting game.
The lodge has an elegant dining area with stunning views of the area and the roaming wildlife. If you are looking for a more secluded dining experience, you can have a prepared picnic on one of the islands.
Go for walking Safaris with your expert Guide. Delta Camp guests are actively encouraged to explore neighbouring local villages, which are essentially the home areas of most guides where you interact with the residents in the surrounding local communities. A wide range of the game is observed from the deck plus over 450 bird species more importantly in the late evening.
