Chobe Chilwero is located on the border of the Chobe National Park, which is home to the world’s largest remaining population of elephants, and just 10 minutes by road to Kasane and one and half hours from Victoria Falls. This lodge’s ideal location offers superb access to the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls and the Caprivi Strip of Namibia. This exquisite lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.
Chobe Chilwero Lodge offers 9-double and 6-twin luxury cottages, all of which are selectively pampered in royal design to appreciate nature with the scenery and natural vegetation of the surrounding area.
Each cottage measures 61sq m and has its own en-suite bathroom plus a large indoor sunken bath and 2 outdoor showers, private balcony where guests can have cocktails after the day’s activities. Guests can also here enjoy own private dinner served under the African sky; mosquito nets, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, hairdryer as well as an in-room safe. The lodge visitors get pleasure from creature comforts – elegantly appointed accommodations, silver service, gourmet meals and fine wines. High teas are often served on the lawn under the shade of the trees.
Guests can also freshen up in the swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food for which the lodge has become known. With gorgeous, awe-inspiring vistas as background, guests come face-to-face with the plentiful creatures of the wild, and some of the most spectacular sunsets Botswana has to offer.
The main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. The wine cellar is temperature-controlled and has a large selection of South African wines. There is a split-level swimming pool, library, curio shop, telephone, and fax as well as 24-hour first internet access. There is an indoor spa bath, Vichy showers, hydrotherapy, plunge pool; relaxation area and private treatment rooms, one of which is elevated in the treetops to afford magnificent views over the adjacent landscape. The spa offers a range of luxury spa and hydrotherapy treatments from both the Thalgo and Africology ranges. The spa is open from 7 am to 7 pm every day.
Sundowner Cruises are organized on the Chobe River. They offer one of the best ways to end a safari day. Specially designed riverboats take guests up close to elephants as they wade in the river or near to the buffalo who gather on its shores. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing animals up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings.
These are arranged on request. They are taken to Chobe Safari Lodge jetty for the activity. Here they are handed over to the coxswain and agree on a pickup time for the transfer back to the lodge. The winter months of May, June, July and August present the best season for fishing at Chobe Chilwero because that’s when the water is slowing down. The types of fish guests can expect to catch are Bream and Tiger Fish, on a catch and release basis.
Your stay at Chilwero would really be incomplete if you don’t visit Victoria Falls. The lodge is only an hour and a half’s drive from the spectacular Victoria Falls. Chobe Chilwero is a great base from which to explore this great wonder of the world. The tour usually takes one and a half hours stopping at the various viewing points. Guests are advised to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the walk, as well as suitable waterproof gear for camera equipment.
