PLACES TO VISIT IN GUINEA

Mount Nimba

Located on the borders of Guinea, Liberia and Ivory Coast, Mount Nimba rises above the surrounding savannah. Mount Nimba is the highest point in Guinea at 1,750 meters above sea level. Its slopes are covered by dense forest at the foot of grassy mountain pastures. They harbour an especially rich flora and fauna, with endemic species such as the viviparous toad and chimpanzees that use stones as tools. One can hike up the hills into the forest, and try spotting animals and birds. This is simply a wonderful way of exploring the rugged village, and getting closer to nature. Attractions for trekkers along the routes are the giant frogs found in plenty in the Nimba mountain ranges; they are unique and look very rare from other amphibians. Also present is the Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve.

Conakry – the Capital

Conakry is the capital and largest city of Guinea and lies in the southwest part of the country on the Atlantic Ocean. Conakry is the main commercial centre for the country. The key sights to see here include the Atoll Waterfalls, and of course the Soumba Waterfalls. These are water cascades flowing down hundreds of feet, with a pool nearby for people to swim in. For the party animals, they can stay up late and join the party scene in this town, or maybe grab a table at Timi’s, which is most famous.

Iles de Los

Situated in Conakry Bay, Iles de Los are an island group (Kassa, Sorro, Room and Rogbane) and boat is the only means of transport. Soumba Waterfalls

Bel Air Beach

Mount Kaukoulima
